  1. 1) What type of learning takes place on a field trip? What steps did the teacher take to insure that the students understood what was expected of them from this experience, and that they stayed on task?

By asking questions, the teacher clarified the expectations of the students with the student’s answers. She incorporated the reasons of taking the trip and how the trip relates to an activity/assignment that the class will be working on. She also made sure to highlight that the students will be taking a pencil and notebook paper to take notes of the building that the students selected for their creative writing piece.

    2) Define Inquiry Learning

A learning experience is where student are required to investigate and ask questions. Students are also responding to issues having discussions and researching topics for possible solutions. As students are researching topics of discussions, they are gaining additional information. My understanding is inquiry learning is similar to critical thinking, going beyond the discussion, and finding a possible solution.

    3) The speaker states that experimental learning is about active learning. What does this mean? What is immersion, and why is important in experimental learning?

Experimental learning may be used in a form of a field trip. During a field trip a student is experimenting with visiting with people, observing their environment, as well as working well with their peers. Experimental learning is active learning, being immersed in learning and experience within their environment.
